STUDY CODEMI16
The research question

Can early neurophysiological deterioration from hypoxia be detected before operational performance becomes critically impaired?

Hypoxia & Cognitive Performance Studies measures how progressive controlled hypoxia affects brain activity and cognitive performance during demanding military tasks. The protocol follows a normoxic baseline, progressive hypoxic exposure and recovery while combining wearable EEG, oxygen saturation, heart rate and cognitive / operational task performance.

ParticipantsMilitary aviation personnel, high-altitude operators, special-forces personnel and participants in controlled hypoxic training.
Minimum sampleN = 10
DurationProtocol-defined normoxic baseline + progressive hypoxic exposure + recovery.

How this study is executed.

The protocol below reflects the service definition developed for Neuro Garage. Final details are confirmed before execution.

01

Record normoxic baseline EEG, SpO2, heart rate and task performance.

02

Begin progressive controlled hypoxic exposure under the approved specialist safety protocol.

03

Alternate / combine cognitive tasks with an operational or simulated military task while EEG and physiological signals are recorded continuously.

04

Identify changes in brain activity, oxygenation, errors, reaction time and performance trajectory, including early deterioration compatible with hypoxic exposure.

05

Return to normal oxygen conditions and measure cognitive, physiological and neurophysiological recovery toward baseline.
