The research question

How does the person allocate attention to social and non-social information, faces, eyes and joint-attention cues?

A complementary autism-spectrum assessment and monitoring pathway using eye tracking to quantify social attention, face/eye attention, joint attention, disengagement and visual exploration. It does not replace comprehensive diagnostic evaluation.

ParticipantsChildren, adolescents or adults with diagnosed or clinically suspected autism spectrum disorder.
Minimum sampleIndividual clinical assessment: N = 1. Research cohorts: sample size defined by the study design.
DurationProtocol-defined individual assessment; repeatable for monitoring.

How this study is executed.

The protocol below reflects the service definition developed for Neuro Garage. Final details are confirmed before execution.

01

Select age-appropriate social and non-social stimuli.

02

Calibrate eye tracking.

03

Present face, social-scene and joint-attention paradigms.

04

Measure fixation allocation, disengagement and gaze following.

05

Compare within person over time when monitoring is required.

Typical outputs

What this specific study can produce

01Social Attention Profile
02Face & Eye Attention Profile
03Social–Nonsocial Preference
04Joint-Attention Response
05Attention Disengagement Profile
06Visual Exploration Pattern
07Longitudinal Social-Attention Change
Decisions supported

What the client can change with the evidence

The study is designed to translate observed behavior into concrete operational, people, design or risk-management decisions.

01Support specialist screening/assessment
02Identify social-attention targets
03Monitor developmental or intervention-related change
Scientific configuration

The method follows the question

Technology is selected because it is scientifically appropriate for the research objective, not because a device must be used. Santiago configures the study scope, stimuli, participant flow and measurement path before execution.
