STUDY CODEH09
The research question

How are muscle activation and functional movement changing over time in a person with ALS?

A non-invasive functional and monitoring service for ALS using surface EMG and motion measurement. It does not replace needle EMG, nerve conduction studies or specialist diagnostic workup.

ParticipantsPeople with ALS under neurological or rehabilitation care.
Minimum sampleIndividual clinical assessment: N = 1. Research cohorts: sample size defined by the study design.
DurationIndividual assessment with longitudinal repeat sessions.

Technology configuration

Measurement follows the task

The technology path shown here is the approved structure for this service. The exact protocol is configured around the research question, environment and participant flow.

01 · CoreSurface EMG + IMU

Muscle activation and functional movement.

02 · OptionalEye Tracking

For access, interaction or communication assessment when motor function is severely limited.

Typical protocol · Health

How this study is executed.

The protocol below reflects the service definition developed for Neuro Garage. Final details are confirmed before execution.

01

Define functional targets and disease stage with the specialist.

02

Record standardized muscle activation and functional movement tasks.

03

Quantify activation, timing, fatigue-related change and movement performance.

04

Add eye-control/access assessment when appropriate.

05

Repeat measurements longitudinally.

Typical outputs

What this specific study can produce

01Neuromuscular Function Profile
02Muscle Activation Profile
03Functional Movement Profile
04Progression Monitoring
05Eye-Control / Communication Assessment when applicable
Decisions supported

What the client can change with the evidence

The study is designed to translate observed behavior into concrete operational, people, design or risk-management decisions.

01Monitor functional change
02Support rehabilitation planning
03Quantify residual motor function
04Support assistive-access decisions
Scientific configuration

The method follows the question

Technology is selected because it is scientifically appropriate for the research objective, not because a device must be used. Santiago configures the study scope, stimuli, participant flow and measurement path before execution.
